Was managing editor at KCBS L.A. for five years

Television news executive Patrick C. Casey, who was until recently executive news director of ABC22 WKEF and FOX45 WRGT in Dayton, Ohio, died Saturday, March 19, in Cincinnati after a 13-month battle with brain cancer. He was 54.

Casey, who spent 30 years working in TV news around the country, was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a form of brain cancer, in February 2010 but continued working, stepping down only a few months ago.

“Pat was an extremely rare and talented news executive who understood and appreciated all aspects of the business,” said John Culliton, a former general manager of KCBS who worked with Casey. “He saw the big picture. Read more…

NBC to salute George H. W. Bush in special

Primetime ‘Celebration’ will also honor military, volunteerism

NBC is offering an hour of primetime as a salute to American service and volunteerism.

Peacock’s “All Together Now: A Celebration of Service” will also honor President George H. W. Bush for his leadership in public service. Special will air 8 p.m. March 28 and taped at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

Event will also bring together all the former living presidents — Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and his father — for the first time since President Obama’s inauguration in 2009. Obama will be in South America at the time of the taping, but will offer a video message.

Newton in hospital after stress of court

EMBATTLED actor Matthew Newton was this morning rushed to hospital after developing a stress related illness.

An ambulance was called to Northside West Clinic – where Newton is an in-patient – after the star started suffering severe stomach cramping.Newton underwent tests at Westmead Hospital which revealed he was suffering from stomach inflammation reportedly brought on by stress.Lawyer Chris Murphy said on Twitter that the “stress of recent events is having a damaging effect on Matt Newton’s health”.”Northside West Clinic rushed Matthew Newton by ambulance to Westmead Hospital today.,” the lawyer tweeted.”After 12hrs he is being returned to the clinic.”The health scare comes a day after Newton faced court for violating an apprehended violence order filed by his former fiancee actress Rachael Taylor.

Fallout between actor, production escalates

Charlie Sheen’s lengthy execration of “Two and a Half Men” creator Chuck Lorre, now a viral sensation, has raised hackles among Jewish activists.

CHARLIE Sheen’s hit TV show Two and a Half Men will not film any more episodes this season, with CBS and Warner Bros. yesterday blaming the star’s behavior and comments for the shutdown.

“Based on the totality of Charlie Sheen’s statements, conduct and condition, CBS and Warner Bros. Television have decided to discontinue production of Two and a Half Men for the remainder of the season,” CBS and Warner Bros.
