Gov. Beverly Perdue will be in Wilmington on Thursday to make a major announcement affecting the film industry, according to an administration official.
The governor’s office Wednesday did not officially confirm that the announcement involves the shooting of “Iron Man 3″ in the area.
But Aaron Syrett, director of the N.C. Film Office, also sent out an email Wednesday evening to members of the state film council about the visit.
In the email, Syrett said they had been working diligently on “a very large project that all came together this evening,” adding that Perdue would be addressing the media at EUE/Screen Gems studios at 2:30 p.m.
Wilmington Mayor Bill Saffo said earlier Wednesday afternoon that he hadn’t received a confirmation from the governor’s office about the nature of her appearance.

After reports surfaced today that rapper Rick Ross was in critical condition and unconscious from suffering a seizure on an airplane, the Teflon Don put fans at ease about his condition via Twitter.
According to an earlier report, Rick — who was traveling from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to Memphis for a show — suffered a seizure on board the plane, which had to make an emergency landing while a doctor on board administered CPR.

The arrival of fall means beers and brats to food fans, and there are several of these Octoberfest-style events in the area this month.
One begins at Front Street Brewery at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1. Their Oktoberfest features a self-named special ale, pretzel and a pint for $5. Oktoberfest mugs will be on sale for about $9, with the first fill included.
You can get these specials on Sunday as well. Those hungry for more than beer can get a braised bratwurst with sauerkraut and German potato salad for $6 both days.
