PHILADELPHIA—The joke about the three stages of an actress in Hollywood—babe, district attorney, “Driving Miss Daisy”—is so good, we repeat it even if it isn’t true anymore.
The truth is the business is getting to be much friendlier to “older” actresses, especially if you factor in television.
Maria Bello is now in her 40s, she’s mother of a 10-year-old boy, and she’s busier than ever — a new movie (“Beautiful Boy”), plus two more in the hopper, and she’s about to embark on the American version of the venerated Helen Mirren BBC series “Prime Suspect,” the quintessential plum role.

DETROIT (AP) – A lawsuit filed in Detroit claims music star Lady Gaga is misleading her fans with an online pitch for donations for victims of the Japan earthquake.
Lady Gaga’s website is selling $5 wristbands that say, “We Pray For Japan.” The website also allows people to make additional donations and says “all proceeds go directly to Japan reliefefforts.”

An email seeking comment was left Monday with a spokesman for Lady Gaga. The lawsuit was filed Friday in federal court in Detroit.

Actor Ryan O’Neal is butting heads with the University of Texas over an iconic silkscreen of Farrah Fawcett done by Andy Warhol — and valued at $30 million.
The university believes the Farrah silkscreen, one of two made by Warhol in 1980, is “missing” from the artwork the “Charlie’s Angels” star bequeathed to her alma mater when she died from cancer in 2009 at the age of 62.
It even hired a private detective to track the silk-screen down, according to a report on “Good Morning America.”
O’Neal, Fawcett’s longtime love interest, says the silk-screen was “given to him by Farrah” and that he owns it outright.
