At 8:30 this morning (Tuesday, Jan. 24), actress Jennifer Lawrence (“Winter’s Bone”) announced the nominees for the 84th Academy Awards, set to air at 7 p.m. Sunday Feb. 26 on ABC.

Best Actor: George Clooney, “The Descendants”; Brad Pitt, “Moneyball”; Jean Dujardin, “The Artist”; Gary Oldman, “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy”; Demian Bichir, “A Better Life”

Also, in Knoxville on Feb. 26 will be an Oscar Night America party at downtown’s Regal Riviera, one of only 49 parties officially sanctioned by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The event, set for 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26. will benefit Variety of Eastern Tennessee.

At the event, party-goers will watch the Academy Awards telecast on big-screen TVs, while enjoying complimentary hors d’oeuvres and drinks. There will even be a red carpet for guests to walk.

Tickets for the event go on sale Feb. 10. Ticket price has not yet been announced.
